Title Freeze Dried Movies | Movie History, Trivia and Reviews
Description Watching old classic movies gives you a feeling of nostalgia. These movies may seem old, but their quality and story-telling transcend time. And for Millenials who are planning to watch them, here are some of the old-but-gold films from the Golden Age of Cinema that you need to watch. Dazed and Confused (1993) Set in Austin, Texas, Dazed and Confused is a coming-of-age film following a group of troublemaking teenagers celebrating their last day of high school in 1976. The graduating batch decided to head to a popular pool hall and joined an impromptu keg party. Randall "Pink" Floyd (Jason London), the class' star football player, made a promise to abstain from partying and only direct his focus on the championship game. On the other hand, the incoming freshmen are trying to avoid being hazed by the seniors, most especially by the ruthless bully Fred O'Bannion (Ben Affleck). Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) This coming-of-age film can be considered a true archetype of a high school comedy story. The film follows Stacy Hamilton (Jennifer Jason Leigh), a pretty, albeit inexperienced teen very interested in dating. Having asked for advice from Linda Barrett (Phoebe Cates), Stacy's carefree friend, she gets trapped in a love triangle with the shy but amiable Mark Ratner (Brian Backer) and his best friend Mike Damone (Robert Romanus), a smooth-talking know-it-all. In the meantime, Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn), a classmate of Stacy who loves surfing and being stoned, is in a confrontation with Mr. Hand (Ray Walston), a strict teacher who doesn't have the time to cater to Jeff's antics. The Princess Bride (1987) The Princess Bride is inspired by a novel by William Goldman, "The Princess Bride," and follows a beautiful young woman named Buttercup (Robin Wright) and Westley (Cary Elwes), her one true love. Westley leaves in a ship to seek fortune overseas so that they can marry, but unfortunately got attacked and is presumed dead. After a long separation, he must find and save Buttercup. They both have to fight the evils of the mythical kingdom of Florin to be reunited. Romy & Michele's High School Reunion (1997) The film is set ten years after Romy (Mira Sorvino) and Michele's (Lisa Kudrow) high school graduation. Both women are yet to accomplish everything they were set out to do. Romy and Michele saw their chance when they heard about their upcoming high school reunion. They then took the opportunity to show their classmates how greatly they've changed by spinning lies that eventually got out of their control. The Godfather (1972) The Godfather follows the head of the Corleone crime family Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), as he ages and finds that being head isn't getting any easier. He wants to get his family out of the Mafia, but the mob kingpin (Eli Wallach) isn't enthusiastic about letting go of the most powerful and wealthy families. Even worse, his nephew Vincent (Andy Garcia) wants a piece of the family's criminal empire and Mary (Sofia Coppola), Michael's daughter. The Breakfast Club (1985) This is a film about five high school students of different statuses enduring a Saturday detention supervised by their power-hungry principal (Paul Gleason). The diverse group includes jock Andrew (Emilio Estevez), princess Claire (Molly Ringwald), rebel John (Judd Nelson), brainy Brian (Anthony Michael Hall), an outcast Allison (Ally Sheedy). Each of them gets a chance to tell their story, making others see them in a different light. Pretty Woman (1990) This film is about a businessman and a prostitute, an unlikely pair, falling hard for each other. Edward (Richard Gere), who earns a living by buying and breaking up companies, picks up a hooker, Vivian (Julia Roberts), on a lark while on a business trip in LA. After Vivian was hired to stay with Edward for the weekend, they both get closer but discover there are notable hurdles to overcome. When Harry Met Sally (1989) When Harry Met Sally follows college graduates Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) and Harry Burns (Billy Crystal). The two share a car ride from Chicago to New York. Harry and Sally argued about whether men and women can indeed have a strictly platonic friendship during the ride. At a bookstore, Harry and Sally meet again after ten years and attempt to only stay as friends without sex ever bing an issue between them. Private Benjamin (1980) In the film, Judy Benjamin (Goldie Hawn), a Jewish-American princess, is devastated when her husband (Albert Brooks) died on their wedding night. While grieving, a devious recruiter convinces her to enlist in the Women's Army Corps. Judy thought of her enlistment as a vacation, but her hopes of easy times were crushed by Captain Lewis (Eileen Brennan). Drop Dead Gorgeous (1997) This film is set in a small town in Minnesota where an annual beauty pageant turns into a ridiculously competitive and chaotic one. Becky Leeman (Denise Richards), motivated by Gladys (Kirstie Alley), her beauty queen mother; Amber Atkins (Kirsten Dunst), and her hard-drinking mom Annette (Ellen Barkin), are some of the top contenders in the event.
